VERY STEADY CONDITIONS. SLIGHT IMPROVEMENT IN PRICE. I AUCKLAND, Saturday. Advices from London state that very steady conditions continue to rule on the butter market, and New Zealand choicest salted is selling at 955, which represents a slight improvement on the average price over the last month. Australian butler also has made. a slight advance, while Danish remains steady at^iOSs. The cheese market is Arm and a further rise in price is recorded, making an improvement of 5s Cd for Inc past month. New Zealand write cheese is now selling at 50s, a price that lias not been obtained since last November. A Comparison. The following comparative table shows the mean closing quotations on the London market for the last two weeks:—■

A year ago the butter market was quiet. Danish was quoted at 110 s per cwt.; choicest sailed, New Zealand, 80s to 81s; Australian, 75s to 765; unsalted, New Zealand, 86s to 06s; Australian, 78s to 80s. The cheese market was slow. New Zealand, white, was quoted at 49s to 49s 6d; coloured, 46s to 46s 6d. Australian cheese was cleared. Messrs Dalgety and Company, Limited, report having received the following cablegram from their London principals, Messrs Samuel Page and Son, Ltd., dated 22nd. instant: — Butter.—The market is steadier. New Zealand, finest salted, 94s to 955; Danish, f.0.b., 88s; Australian, finest unsalted, 100 s to 102 s; Australian, finest salted, 93s to 945; Australian, G.A.Q., 91s.
