There Svns a noticeable decrease in activity at, the weekly Morrinsville stock sale yesterday when a smaller bench of buyers competed for lighter ywdipcs in all classes. Current rates were little affected, the only alteration of note being the decline of interest in dairies as compared with the eager demand of last, week. A small consi'-niment of good quality ox beef excited a keen measure of comnetilinn. the best price recorded at Morrinsville for some time being realised for heavy prime sorls that sold for - fit 2s. Late rates in practically all cases were maintained for this class. -Competition was brisk for second quality offerings, while there was no diminution in rates for boners. ! The exceptionally keen demand that was evident for dairies last week showed no recurrence yesterday when I a smaller bench of buyers was tardy ! in submitting their offers, only good quality and very forward sorts meeti ing a favourable reception. 'However. ' many or the consignments were decidi edly backward and this was no small -! facior in the slowness of the bidding. | A heavier yarding of fat sheep than ' Inst, week were eagerly competed for, prices rising in sympathy with the high values obtained at Frankton last week. The market was firm for a small offering of fat wethers, while it brightened considerably for ewes, exlra prime -sorts commanding enthusiastic competition. A good env. trv of fat hoggets sold at advanced j rates. j -Little alteration In values was re-

corded for an average yarding of fat, pigs, but tlie market fur store pigs which were offered in large numbers i definitely .weakened. j Stock Quotations. j The following table shows the comparison between this week's and last week’s rates: —- j BEEF (par 1001 b).
