BADMINTON
AUCKLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS. FIXTURE IN BLEDISLOE lIALL. The suitability of Bledisloe Hall for badminton tournaments was thoroughly tested last month when a representative match between Auckland and Waikato was played. The hall was so satisfactory from all points of view that it has been decided to hold the Auckland Provincial Championships in Hamilton and the tournament will commence next Thursday. Most of the present New Zealand champions will attend, while the singles contests should be very interesting. Three title holders in each section, men’s and ladies', will lie competing and badminton of the highest standard can confidently be anticipated. Several southern players have entered for the tournament. The tournament will be continued over Friday and completed on Saturday afternoon and evening. Great interest will centre in the results particularly as the New Zealand championships will be held in New Plymouth the following week. Several courts are available in Bledisloe Hall and the main court on which the principal matches will bo played, has been specially marked out s 0 that large.crowds can watch the play in comfort.
