LENIENCY GIVEN.
JUDGE AND PRISONER. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) NAPIER, Saturday. Taking into consideration a recommendation by the jury for mercy, Mr Justice Reed, in the Supreme Court this morning, sentenced William James Tait, aged 24, to three years’ probation on two charges of breaking, entering and theft.
