WEDDINGS.

DOWNING —SPINLEY. The marriage was solemnised at the Knox Presbyterian Church, Morrlnsvilie, on Wednesday, between Laura Ceciala, youngest daughter of Mrs S. J. Spinley, and the late Mr J. Spinley, of Morrinsville, and Frank Arthur, second son of Mr and Mrs H. Downing, Edmunds, Suffolk, England. The Rev. Naylor officiated and the wedding music was played by Mrs J. R. Wilson. The church had been attractively decoraled with flowers and heather by friends of the bride.

The bride, who was given away by her uncle, Mr George Spinley, of Te Awamutu, wore a lovely gown of ivory phantom faille made in mediaeval style with- long full sleeves and a heavy silk girdle, the skirt Haring gracefully to form a short train. She wore a long embroidered tulle veil forming a train ■and carried a trailing bouciuet of white azalea, balsam and roses, with asparagus fern. The bridesmaid, Miss Mona Spinley (sister of the bride), wore a frock of jubilee blue floral suede georgette cut on slim lines to the kqees, with a very full gathered skirt forming a train. Tlie bodice was fashioned with long, .full sleeves and finished with a silver girdlo and she wore a large picture hat to tone. She carried a bouquet ■of pink sweet-peas, hyacinths and blue forget-me-nots. The little ilower-girl, Peggy Finman (niece of the bride) wore an anklelength frock of the same material as the bridesmaid and carried a posy of cyclamen and forget-me-nots. Mr D. Spinley (brother of the bride) was best man. After the ceremony a reception was held in Hie Blue Bird tea rooms. The guests were received by the bride’s mother, wearing a navy floral georgette frock and navy coat and hat to tone. She carried a posy of gold freezias and violets.

When Mr and Mrs F. A. Downing left for the North, the bride travelled hi a wine costume with hat and coat to tone. They will make their home at Te Puninga. HABTIE—NEWCOMBE. The marriage was solemnised at St. Andrew’s * Church, Cambridge, on Tuesday evening between Mary Agnes (Tot), second daughter of the late Mr and Mrs R. Newcombe, “Rocky Nook," Pukeroro, and Richard Seddon, fifth son of Mrs L. Ilastie, Thornton Road, Cambridge. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. C. W. Chandler and Miss Mary Attwood played the wedding music. y The church was beautifully decorated with spring flowers and foliage by friends of the bride.

The bricle, who entered the church with her brother, looked charming in a frock of white suede crepe, cut on slim-litting lines, falling to a graceful train. A cream girdle finished with silk tassels was worn -at the waist. She wore a long veil embroidered in true lovers’ knots falling from a halo of orange blossoms and carried a sheaf of white freezias and maidenhair fern. Miss Dorothea Newcombe (sister of the bride) was bridesmaid and wore a graceful frock of blue moss crepe fashioned on slim-fitting lines and trimmed with silver lame. She wore a halo of blue and pink velvet flowers and carried a bouquet of pink spring flowers and maidenhair fern. Dawn Newcombe (niece of the bride) was flower-girl, wearing an ankle-length frock of pink velvet, trimmed with tiny pink rosebuds and silver bow. She wore a dainty hair band and can’ied a posy of pink and blue flowers. Mr Malcolm Hastie (brother of the bridegroom) was best man. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Triangle lea rooms. Mrs L. Ilastie and 'Miss E. Newcombe •received the guests, Mrs Ilastie wearing a frock of floral silk marocain, black crepe coat and hat to tone. She carried a posy of autumn-tinted flowers. 'Miss E. Newcombe was wearing a frock of blue marocain with hat to tone and fur coat and carried a posy •of violets. When Mr and Mrs R. S. Hastie left .for an extensive motor tour the bride travelled in a navy tunic suit and hat to tone. PICKERING—JARY. A very pretty and quiet wedding was solemnised at the Presbyterian Church, Cambridge, on August 17, between Miss Nellie Jary, Lake Hoad, Ohaupo, second surviving daughter of Ihe late .Mr and Mrs Frank Jary, of Kaipnki. Ohaupo, and Mr it. C. Pickering, only son of the laic Mr Pickering and Mrs Saunders, of Brunlwood, Cambridge.

Mr and Mrs H. C. Pickering will make their home in Brunlwood.
