CHURCH ANNIVERSARY.
HAMILTON EAST METHODIST. Anniversary services were held on Sunday last in St. John’s Methodist Church, Hamilton East. In the morning Mr J- H. Eow preached on the subject, “The Integrity of Job,” and in the evening the Rev. J. Dennis took as his subject “Past, Present and Future.” The choir, under the baton of Mr Jones, gave (he following anthems: “O Taste and See,” “The Lord is Mv Shepherd," “O Gladsome Light”; Mr U. R. 'Magiil sang the solo, “Just for To-day," and Mr Jones sang “lie’s Just the Same. Mis Slorry and Mr Modre presided at the organ. 'There were large congregations. ‘ , Tho cliiurdi anniversary conceit took place on Wednesday evening, when the hall was well filled- The secretary's report showed Dial the church hut* had a successful year. Besides paying ils way Hie debt had boon reduced by £SO. With Ibc legacy received from Ilic laic Mrs Keid Ilic schoolroom had been painted, both outside and inside, and the exterior of the church renovated from trust funds. Tho following programme was given: Anthem, “Tile Lord Is My Shepherd" and part song, “The Long Day Closes," the choir: vocal duet, Miss li. Biddy and Mr 11. Biddy; vocal solos, .Miss Wilkie, Mr L. Foster, Mr J. Scrimshaw. M, Wright: elocution, Mrs D. Bradley; mouth organ solo, .Mr ,|. Kilburii- The Uototuna Girls’ Bililc Class staged the playclte, “The Distinguished Visitor." The pianists were Mesdames Foster and Slurry and Mr J. Whitehead.
