CAMBRIDGE FIRE BRIGADE

BOARD’S QUARTERLY MEETING. (Special to Times.) CAMBRIDGE, Thursday. The quarterly meeting or the Cambridge Fire Board was held In the Council Chambers yesterday when the chairman, Mr C. H Priestley, presided, and there were present, Messrs G. 11. Brlaley. A. 11. Nicoll, v. O'. Boulton, and the. secretary, .Mr F. T. nay. The financial statement showed tlujt Tor the quarter, £l2l is had been spent out or an estimate or £531 Is Gd. The balance at the bank on April 1 was £l2 -is 2d and at date, £BO Ms. The Income for the period was £2Ol 17s. The expenditure includes the purchase or 20 instantaneous couplings and six new helmets. Last evening a very enjoyable function was held at the Fire Station when several members were the recipients or service honours, including Dr. 11. C. Tod, honorary surgeon, who received a live years’ service incdal, the ilrst or its kind to be presented in llic brigade, Dr. Tod being the guest or honour. There was an attendance or about 70, the Mayor, Mr C. 11. Priestley, as chairman or the Fire Board, presiding. During the evening the rollowing toasts v were honoured. ‘‘Cambridge Fire Board,” proposer. Deputy Superintondant W. Harris; reply. Mr U. 11. Brlaley (Auckland); “Cambridge Borough Council,” proposer, Mr V. G. Boulton; reply, Cr. Edgar James. “Cambridge Fire Brigade.” proposer, Mr W. Drake; reply. Foreman F. 11. Green. “The Police Force,” proposed by Mr \v. Moon?; reply Constable H. Malsey, “The Press,” proposer, The Mayor; reply, Mr G, A. James. Items were contributed by the following; Messrs A. J. Rankin, F. T. nay, W. Lane, G. A. James, T. 11. Hampshire, n. Bowie, G. IL Brlaley. The rollowing honours . were presented bv Mr A. IL Nicoll. who paid a tribute to the service given by the members or the bzrlgadc and especially by Superintendent Geo. Drew and tho senior ameers and members; Dr. Tod, live years’ service medal; Motorman T. Steen and Fireman \V. Mitchell, live years’ service medals; Superintendent Drew, two years’ bar, making a total or 2 1 years’ service; Foreman Green, two years’ bar (total nine years); Fireman F. Thomason, two year bar (total 10 years’ service); Fireman 11. Carter, two years’ bar (total seven years’ service), iurdmnn Cup —Deputy Superintendent Harris; Amalgamated Theatres medals; won by Fireman 11. Carter and J. Meanie.
