NOTE ISSUE INCREASED. INVESTMENTS ALSO RISE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. Thursday. The Reserve Rank return for tho week ended August 19 was gazetted today. The statement is balanced at £25,966.557, or £236,900 less than at the close of the previous week. After a prolonged period of almost unbroken reduction, (lie note issue has moved the opposite way, there having been an increase of £43,610. State deposits have fallen by £441,112, while tho holdings of the trading banks arc £84,820 higher. Other demand liabilities have increased by £76,508. Sterling exchange lias decreased by £241,697. After having remained unchanged for months, investments show an increase of £8783. Other changes are of a minor character.
