RATES IN HAMILTON. GLUT OF CAULIFLOWERS. FRUIT SUPPLY INCREASES. Over the past week there has been a good demand for apples and pears on the Hamilton market. Ballarats arc practically finished, and with fills line off the market Sturmers will find favour as a good cooker. Stunner, Delicious and Rome Beauties are coming to hand freely and are meeting a good sale. Winter Nelis and W. Cole pears are also in favour, and the previous week’s demand has been well maintained. island oranges have increased in price owing to Australian shipments having been held up by the strike. Pears: Winter Cole 10s to 12s Gd; W. Nelis 9s Gd to 12s, Josephine 8s Gd to 10s Gd, P. Barry 6s Gd to 9s. Oranges: Sunkist 28s to 31s, Island lGs Gd to 22s Gd. Lemons: First grade 9s to Pis, others 5s to Bs. Island tomatoes, 5s to 6s Gd; grapefruit, 5s to 8s Gd; marmalade oranges, 5s to 7s. Rates for Vegetables.—The vegetable market has been glutted with cauliflowers over the past week and values have declined to a price which does not warrant the grower consigning. Cabbages, kumeras, carrots and parsnips are in good demand. The following values are being maintained: Cauliflowers, 2s to -is; cabbages, Savoy 3s Gd to ss, Drumhead 5s to Gs Gd; swedes, 2s to 2s Gd; kumeras, Tauranga is to 5s sugar-bag, Island iis to lGs cwt; pumpkins 7s to 8s Gd cwt; potatoes, £l2 ex store; carrots, parsnips, beet, turnips, 9d per dozen bundles; Californian onions, 2Gs 1001 b bag. Produce and Cereals. Produce and cereal rates remain unchanged. Wheat is firm at Gs 3d' a bushel, with is 9d for maize and barley, and is 9d for mixed grain. Oats are selling, at 6s 3d for Dunn’s, 5s 9d for Algerian seed, 5s 3d A Cartons and os for B Cartons. The ruling price for pollard is 8s 6d per 100 lb., with 7s 6d for bran. Blenheim chaff £8 a ton. Eggs, Butter and Fish. The ruling rates for eggs remain unchanged, both hen and duck selling in the vicinity of Is Gd per dozen. Butter is on the market at Is Id for finest and Is for second grade. Fish is selling well and the prices remain on a par with last week.
