CAMBRIDGE FIRE BRIGADE.
BOARD’S QUARTERLY MEETING. (Special to Times.) CAMBRIDGE, Thursday. The quarterly meeting of the Cambridge Fire Board was held in -the Council Chambers yesterday when the chairman, Mr C. H Priestley, presided, and there were present, Messrs G. 11. Brlaley, A. 11. Nlcoll. V. G'. Boulton, and the secretary, Mr F. T. Ray.
The financial statement showed that for the quarter, £l2l Is had been spent out or an estimate or £5 31 ts G'd. The balance at the bank'on April 1 was £l2 -is 2d and at date, £BO-. I.ls. The income for ♦ the period was £2Ol 17s. The expenditure includes the purchase of- 26 Instantaneous couplings and six new helmets. Social Evening. hast' evening a very enjoyable function was held at the Fire Station when Several members were the recipients op service honours, including Dr. 11. C. Tod, honorary surgeon, who received a five years’ service medal, the first or its kind to he presented in the brigade, Dr. TOd being the guest of honour.
There was an attendance of about 70, the Mayor, Mr C., H. Priestley, as chairman of the Fire Board, presiding. ' During the evening' the renewing toasts were . honoured, “Cambridge Fire Board;” proposer, Deputy SupCrintendant \v. Harris; reply, Mr G. H. Brlaley' (Auckland); “Cambridge BorOugh Council,”' proposer, Mr V. G. Boulton; reply, Cr.-Edgar James. “Cambridge.-Fire Brigade,” proposer, Mr W. Drake; reply, Foreman F. H. Green. “The Police Force;” proposed by Mr \v. Mopre; replv constable H. Malsey, ‘‘The’ Press.” proposer. The Mayor; reply, Mr G.' A. James.
Items were contributed by the following: Messrs A. J. Bhnkin, F. T. Ray, \v. Lane, G. A. James; T. 11. Hampshire, R. BOwie, a. H. Brlaley. The following honours wore presented by Mr A. 11. Nieoli, who paid a tribute to the service given by the members or tho hzrigafle and especially by Superintendent Geo. Drew and me senior officers and members: Dr. Tod, five years’ service medal; Motorman T. Steen and Fireman av. Mitrbell. five years’ service medals; Superintendent Drew, two years’ bar, making a total or 21 years’ servtre; Foreman GrcOn, two years’ bar (total nine years); Fireman F. Thomason, two year bar (total in years' service); Fireman 11. Carter, two years’ bar (total seven years’' sefvire). Birdman Cup—Deputy Superintendent Harris; Amalgamated Theatres medals: won by Fireman H. Carter and .1. Aleantc.
