TWO LEADERS DISAGREE. APPEAL TO HERR HITLER. UnLed Press Assn. —Elec. Tel. Copyright LONDON, Aug. 21. The News Chronicle’s Berlin correspondent says an open quarrel, which may have far-reaching consequences to the Hiller regime, has broken out between the Nazi extremists, led by Dr. Goebbels, Minister of Propaganda, and Dr. Schaclit, Minister of Economics, following Dr. Schachl’s speech on Sunday. Dr. Goebbels ordered the speech lo be heavily censored before publication, especially the portion in which Dr. Schaclit openly attacked the extremist Nazis, whose violent methods, he said, were hindering Germanys’ economic recovery.
Dr. Schaclit, supported by powerful Conservative industrialists, also by the Conservative element of the Reichswehr, intends to place before Herr Hitler the realities of the situation. lie will also make a further attempt to persuade Herr Hiller to call off the anti-Jewish campaign. It is reported that Dr. Schaclit is ready to resign unless he is assured that Germany’s serious economic situation will be secured against disturbance by violent outside elements.
