TE AWAMUTU TRACKS. GALILEE AND SALESMAN. KNIGHT OF AUSTRALIA’S MILE. v (By Telegraph.—Special to Times.) TE AWAUMTU, Tuesday. Fast work this morning was done on the extreme outside of the course proper, the going being very heavy. Good work was done by horses engaged at Pakuranga. Callisto and Flit Acre were on terms at the end of six furlongs in 1.25 4-5. Salesman had Galilee as a companion over five furlongs which they completed in >l.lO. Kinght of Australia, who was assisted over the last half by Karohia, completed one mile in 1.57 2-5. He was well ahead at the finish. Tonnerre was sent five furlongs which took him 1.11 2-5. Snow Lap was also worked over a similar distance but was not timed. Spearwin Over Three. Spearwin came home nicely from the three furlongs peg to clock 425. The two-year-olds Galleo, the General Latour-Rikoriko colt, Rulette and Philemup w6re allotted two-furlong sprints which they completed in 28 l-5s and 30s, respectively, the first pair and the latter two being associated in the efforts. . The Hunting Son filly hit out nicely to complete three in 41s.

AUCKLAND CANDIDATES. TRAINING AT ELLERSLIE. SEVERAL USEFUL TRIALS. GAY DEFENCE HITS OUT. (By Telegraph.—Special to Times.) AUCKLAND, Tuesday.. The weather was fine this mprning for training at Ellerslie but recent rain made the going heavy. The No. 3 grass track with the poles 10ft. out was available for fast work and some useful gallops were recorded. Kelly -was the first out being sent six furlongs. He ran the full distance in 1.20 1-5. This was the best of the morning over the journey, 'though he carried his usual light .boy. Gourthaven cleared right away from Racing Lady, while traversing five furlongs in 1.12 2-5, Racing Lady taking 1.14 4-5. Lord Val ran six furlongs in 1.21 1-5, doing it well at the finish. A Pleasing Effort. Gay Defence was in front of Sir Borneo after completing five furlongs in 1.6 1-5, the first two furlongs faking 26 2-ss. It was the best effort over the distance during the morning and both horses worked well. Zane Grey was timed to complete a round in 1.54. Imamint was let off with an easy three furlongs which she ran in 43 4-ss. Wee Pat and Tybalt we*e in front of Air Lassie at the conclusion of six furlongs run in 1.21 2-5, the first three being covered in 40s. Hunting Maid and Teddy Boy, after running their first three furlongs in 40s, took 1.23 to complete six. Teddy Boy impressed the better of the pair. Kiltowyn Does It Well. Kiltowyn worked over a round which occupied 1.52 1-5, the final six furlongs taking 1.26. He did it well. Baroscope and Jewelled Girdle were companions over six furlongs in 1.20 3-5, Baroscope doing better than his companion. Express pleased better than Roman Mascot while traversing half-a-mile in 54 4-ss. Express Is on the improve. Red Flame worked alone over half-a-mile which occupied 565. Over a similar distance Vera Acre and Heskertoon took 56 1 -ss, the former being slightly in front. Primak was limed to run seven furlongs in 1.30 2-5, the last six taking 1.24 3-5. He did not have much in reserve at the finish. Valmlnt Goes Six. Valmint had Grand Tonic as a companion over six furlongs and was doing best at the finish in 1.24 2-5, the last half-mile being covered in 57 2-ss. Marching Song completed a round ir 1.51 3-5, the last six furlongs taking 1.26 3-5. Chief Emerald (Simpson) and Supreme Ruler (’Purvey) were associated over four hurdles. Chief Emerald hit the second fence hard but apart from that they both fenced well. Hawthorn (Tucker) and Tea Chat (Simpson) gave a safe display over two hurdles. Tea Chat shaped much better than on former occasions. They afterwards did strong work over a round on the No. 3 grass track. Volition’s Exhibition. Volition (Baker) was sent over four hurdles. He jumped high at a couple of obstacles hut his display was good considering the heavy state of the ground. Kahunoke (Mcllroy) and Zano Grey (Tucker) jumped the big fences on the llat finishing up over the brush fence by the mile post. They gave a creditable display though Kahunoke dipped badly at the last obstacle. Parkhurst (Craddock) went once round over the steeplechase crurse without, mistake but lie d.d not have much pace on. Gascelle (Baker) and King Rod (Mr Wells) were companions in a similar task. They cleared the water jump tlie first time and the double on the second occasion, finishing over the stone wall. They gave a good display. Ctpella Abbey’s Good Display. s Capella Abbey (Baker) was given a similar task, fencing cleverly throughout. His display was really good. Semiarch (owner) completed a round of the big lences and gave a satisfactory display. lie started off at the brush fence hv the mile post and llnislicd up over the stone wall. Riding Engagements.
