/. THE HAMILTON ASSOCIATION. ADDRESS BY EXAMINER. An entertaining and instructive address was given to a large gathering ot members of the Hamilton Music Students’ Association on Tuesday night by Air Adolph Mann, examiner for the Trinity College of Music, London.
Mr Mann chose for his subject, “ Beethoven and the Romantic Element in Music," and illustrated his talk with several delightfully played works, which included Beethoven’s “Moonlight Sonata," two N-octurns of Chopin, “ Jardins sous la Pluie ’’ (Debussy) and a Viennese Waltz of Friedmann. Mr Mann lias a ready wit and held the attention of his audience throughout. He paid a tribute to the work of the Alusio Students’ Association and was delighted to sec present so many young students and to these he gave special advice and encouragement. The influence of this address and the meeting with one of such wide musical experience should prove highly stimulating to, those privileged to attend.
