TO-DAY’S RECIPE.
VEGETABLE SOUP. - Ingredients: 2 carrots, 2 turnips, 2 onions, half head celery, 1 parsnip, 1 tablespoon butter. 1 tablespon sago, salt and pep- . per, 3 pints stock or water, chopped parsley, quarter teaspoon sugar. , Method: Wash, scrape, or thinly peel vegetables. Cut into blocks. Heat butter in saucepan. Fry vegetables gently 5 minutes. ■ Add water or stock, sugar and salt and simmer for 1 to li hours. Rub througji sieve or colander, return puree to saucepan. Wash sago and stir it in. Reheat to boiling point, then simmer for J-hour longer. Add chopped parsley and serve with sippets of toast.
