The President of the Board of Trade, Mr Waller Runciman, speaking at a luncheon aboard (he French liner Normandie, foreshadowed the possibility of an agreement between the owners of the Normandie and the Queen Mary to avoid unnecessary competition, which he declared would be foolish. It was most essential that tho schedule from 1930 onwards should ensure that the vessels should never simultaneously be in the same part, but always running In an opposite direction.
