CHILD BURNED.
MOTHER’S DISCOVERY.
BEDROOM CURTAINS ON FIRE.
AUCKLAND, Monday
A fire of unknown origin cause* burns about the face and head of an infant, Albert Menown, aged 12 months, and also destroyed the curtains in a front bedroom at the homo of the child’s parents, at Ponsonby, shortly before noon on Saturday. The child was admitted 'to the Auckland Hospital and was taken home after receiving treatment. Mrs Menown said later that the only possible cause of the fire she could Imagine was a cigarette 'butt carelessly thrown by a passer-by. She made a careful search to see If the child had been playing with matohes, but there was nothing to indicate that lie had, nor was there any other highly inflammable material within his reach.
