MINERVAL DESTROYED. ' CHRISTCHURCH, Saturday. All efforts to save Minerval for use as a hack had to be abandoned and, after communicating with his trainer, F. Holmes, the Washdyke trainer P. T. Hogan, who has been looking after the gelding since his accident last month, had him destroyed. A seven-year-old gelding by Arrowsmith from Lady Minerva, Minerval’s outstanding performance on the turf was a surprise victory in the Auckland Cup in 1933.
