AT WHITIKAHU
The Whitlkaliu Institute celebrated its third birthday on Wednesday, when visitors from Gordonton, Motumaoho and Morrinsville Institutes were present. It was a record gathering. The motto was: “ Cheery people help weary people to forget their woes,” and the roll-call, “ Sing, say, or pay,” was well responded to. A social hour was spent with 'charades and 'competitions. The competition, “word-building,” was won by Mrs D. Rainsbury, and the memory test by Mrs Williams.
The president, Mrs Best, was presented with a dainty bouquet with birthday greetings from the members, arid also with a posy of violets from the Gordonton Institute. The ’tables were .prettily decorated, and the candles on the beautifully iced birthday cake were lit by Mrs Clark and blown out by Mrs Brown.
