TE AWAMUTU NOTES.
FAREWELL EVENING. The residents of To Awamutu and surrounding districts held a social farewell evening in the Town Hall on Wednesday to Mr J. Wynyard, who is shortly to leave with 'the All Black football team on their tour of Great Britain. About four hundred people were present and the evening was a great success. ■Representatives of Waikato and Waipa Bugby Unions spoke during tho evening and other speeches of farewell were made by leaders of various interested bodies. Tho Mayoress of To Awamutu, Miss Hazel Spinlcy, addressed Mrs Wynyard, and asked her to accept a charming bouquet of violets and maidenhair fern. Mr Wynyard received a leather suitcase from the Waikato Rugby Union, presented by Mr Powell, of Taupiri. Mr A. J. Shepherd presented a cheque on behalf of tho Waipa Rugby Union and a wallet from the pupils of the local District High School. A camera from the Suburbs Football Club was presented by Mr Worthington, and on behalf of Maori footballers Mr Thompson, of <Kihi Kilii, asked Mr Wynyard to accept an historical greenstone tiki.
Mr Wynyard suitably returned thanks.
