Pierrot Troupe In Hamilton.

A Pierrot troupe is being formed among the young people of St. Peter s parish, under the direction of Dean Weatherhog.

Hamilton W.E.A. Drama Class. The W.E.A. Drama Class - had a very enjoyable evening on Tuesday, when A. A. Milne’s play, “Mr Pirn Passes By," was read by the following cast: —'George Marden, Mr J. Bam ford; Olivia, Miss G. Hodgson; Dinah, Miss B. Tait; Lady Marden, Mrs J. Nelson; Brian Strange, Mr R. Treloar; Carraway Pirn, Mr L. Tait; Anne, Miss P. Blake.

First Production In New Zealand. On Monday and Tuesday “The House of a Thousand Thrills ” will toe presented for the first time in New Zealand toy the Lower illutt Hcpertoiy Society. The author has written his play around a siring of emeralds known as “ The Curse of Kashmir," much valued by the owner, who swears that she will die if anything happens to the gems. Much does happen, not only to the necklace, tout to everyone connected with it.

Drama Festival at Wanganui. The Drama Festival which is to be held at Wanganui on August 6,7, and 8, marks the third yearly effort of the Wanganui branch of the British Drama League.

“ San Toy ” at Invercargill. The Invercargill Operatic Society gave tho last of five performances of “ San Toy ” last night. Miss N. R. “ San Toy ’’ last night. Mrs N. R. C. Paine was principal comedian.

“ Sheppey ” at Wellington. “Sheppey,” by Somerset Maugham was staged by the Wellington Repertory Theatre for four nights this week, under the direction of Leo du Chateau.

New Plymouth Operatic Society

Revived.

After four years of inactivity, the New Plymouth Operatic Society held the first rehearsal on Monday night for a musical comedy to be produced during October. The response was enthusiastic, about 50 attending. Mr J. Dobson, New Plymouth Boys’ High School music master, was appointed music director.
