GIFT OF £SOOO.
LATE MARIE DREBSLER.
SURPRISE FOR HER SISTER. A sister of the Me Marie Dressier, the film star, living at Richmond, Surrey, heard last month that she is to receive £SOOO left to her in Miss Dressler’s will.
She is Mrs Bonita Ganthony—and when she heard the news she was inclined to disregard it. “ Even if I do receive this £5000,” she said to a reporter, “ I have my lawyer to pay, and then there is income tax over here to he considered.” Mrs Ganthony added that she had refused to accept a gold toilet set which was included in the property left by Miss Dressier. “ I should have had to 'pay £22 duty on the set before it was admitted to this country.
Fear of Burglars.
“In addition there is the oost of insurance. Besides, a gold toilet set is of no use to me, and I should he worried about burglars coming to the house.”
A Reuter Los Angeles message states that Miss 'Claire du Brey, who had claimed £SOO for services to the late actress as nurse and secretary, has agreed to accept a compromise payment of £6OO.
