ALL BLACK HONOURED

PRESENTATION TO J. WYNYARD,

TE AWAMUTU, Thursday. The record attendance of over 300 couples at a complimentary social and dance "in honour of Walpa’s All Black, Mr J Wynyard, was eloquent testimony to the popularity of the member or the Suburbs Football Club. Organised principally by the Walpa Rugby Union' and the Suburbs Club, tlie principal guests were Mr J. Wynyard, Mr .1 G. Wynyard, rather or the guest or honour and president or the Walpa Rugby Union, the Mayor, Mr G. Spinley, Mr L Powell, president or the Waikato Rugby Union, Mr W. Fraser, chairman or the committee of the Waikato Union', and Mr T. W. Thompson, secretary or the Union. In congratulating Mr Wynyard on his selection, and extending the good wishes or (he residents of the district for a pleasant. trip, the Mayor said that the players had voir their places in this year’s All Blacks by sheer merit, and contended lhat ns Mr Wynyard was only one of 29 splendid specimens of young New Zealanders, the team should bo a llrst-class combination. He added that when Mr Wynyard returned to impart his knowledge to the other players In the union, better training facilities would be available, Mr Powell presented Mr Wynyard with a solid leather suitcase, and Mr A. J. Shepherd, headmaster of the To Awjimutu District High School, presented the guest of honour with a wallet from tho past and present pupils of the school.

Mr 11. Worthington, on behalf of the Suburbs Club, presented Mr Wynyard with a camera. Mr W. Thompson, on behair or tho Maori rootbnllers In the district, handed the All DlacK a small greenstono tiki as a mascot.
