MATAMATA NOTES.
BOROUGH COUNCIL MEETS. A meeting- or the Matamata Borough Council was held on Monday evening, the Mayor, Mr W. A. Gordon, presiding. A complaint was received rom a icsid cut about stray stock wandering in the borough. The town clerk repot ted that aiv applicant was prepared to take over the duties of poundkeeper, payment ror ills services to he offset by allowing htu the use of the pound. Ihe mattei was left to the town clerk to make the necessary arrangements. Advice was received front the Commissioner of Unemployment granting' permission for subsidised relief labour to he used oil the extension' of the sewerage in llohala Street. Building permits to tile value of £2710 were issued during the past six weeks. The works committee reported that the following works were necessary and should ho proceeded with as soon as possible:— Replacing of water main m Vosper Street with -tin pipes: ro-rormlng of rootpath in Tamahana Street; footpath In Elizabeth Street to ho re-formed and kerbed. Accounts amounting to £1166 4s 2d were passed ror payment. The Mayor and Mosers Mclntyre and Griffiths were appointed to act as the council’s representatives on the Fire Council. Mr Mclntyre was appointed to, the Unemployment Committee and Messrs Wrlgley and Griffiths to the Beautifying Society.
