INTERNATIONAL PEACE
PLANS FOR MAINTENANCE. SETTLEMENT OF DISPUTES. BILL IN BRITISH PARLIAMENT. Received June 19, 2.30 p.m.) LONDON, June 18. By the King’s consent, as it involved a treaty-making prerogative, a Peace Bill was introduced into the House of Commons by Mr G. A. blander. and has been circulated. It incorporates Statute law obligations in regard to the maintenance of peace and the machinery for a peaceful settlement of international disputes embodied in the League of Nations Covenant and other treaties, and ilxes January 1 for its coming into force.
It provides for participation by Royal proclamation in economic sanctions after both Houses of Parliament approve.
It also makes unlawful the use ot -the armed forces of the Crown in any manner contrary to the instruments of the international agreement. It permits the King’s subjects to enlist in any international armed police force which the League of Nations orcatcs.
