OBITUARY.

MRS MARY WEBB. (Special to Times.) CAMBRIDGE, Wednesday. The death occurred last evening of another identity of the Cambridge district in the person of Mrs Mary Webb, at her residence, Alpha Street, aged 74 years. The late Mrs Webb was born in County Cavan, Ireland, and was the third daughter of the late William Wilson. She came to New Zealand with her parents in 1-863, in the ship Telegraph. Mrs Webb’s parents took up land at Dairy Flat, where Mr Wilson farmed until his death. In 1891 deceased was married to Mr Seth Webb, of Cambridge, and they lived In Auckland for some years, coming to Cambridge in i 903, where deceased has resided since. The late Mrs Webb was of a retiring disposition, being greatly Interested in her books and garden. She was a staunch member of the Church of England. She is survived by her husband and three daughters, Mrs M. Taylor (Otcwa), G. J.' Sllcock (Te Uku), and K. Wilkinson (Cambridge). Her only son was killed In the Great War. MRS MARY JANE KARL. The death occurred at Ohaupo yesterday of Mrs Alary Jane Karl, a wellknown identity of the district, at the age of 80 years. •Born in England, the late Mrs Karl had been living in New Zealand for over half-a-century. She had been married three times. As Mrs Webber she married, some 30 years ago, Mr Thomas Karl, who was” engaged in farming until about 15 years ago, when he retired. Most of her life had been spent In the Cambridge, Pater'angl and Ohaupo districts. She had no children. MR ALEXANDER LY'ON. The diminishing band of New Zealand’s early settlers sustained a further loss this morning in the passing of Air Alexander Lyon, whose death occurred in Hamilton at the advanced ago of 85 years. Deceased, who was born in Hamilton, Lanarkshire, Scotland, in 1830, came to New Zealand ns a lad of 15

years. He saw considerable service in the early days as a member of the Jt 53rd Regiment. In subsequent years the late Mr Lyon followed a number of trades, principally gardening. The laic Mr Lyon was predeceased several years ago by his first wife, and he married again. He lias resided in Hamilton for many years, and was a well-known figure in the town. Deceased is survived by his widow, and three sons and two daughters.

the rev. j. d. jory. AUCKLAND, Wednesday. One of the oldest and most rcspocted Methodist ministers in New Zealand, the Rev. John Dunstan Jory, died at Birkenhead yesterday, in his BfHh. year. After lons service in Fiji, Mr Jory held charges at Port Chalmers. Lawrence, Core, Balclutha, Nelson, Warkworlh and Dargaville. All his'life he was an ardent supporter of temperance and in former years he did much service to the prohibition movement. Until his health failed some months ago he look active part In community work at. Birkenhead.
