Seven men, anxious for a close view of Rear-Admiral Byrd’s expedition boat, the Jacob Ruppert, which was anchored In Jamaica Bay, rented a row-boat.
When one hundred feet from shore the craft -capsized, and two of the men who were unable to swim were drowned. The others got to the shore with the aid of police. The Jacob Ruppert came with three of the expedition’s aeroplanes from Boston for exhibition here.
