MAINTENANCE ORDER.
INSURANCE AGENT OHARGED. REMAND TO NEW PLYMOUTH. Arrested on a charge of disobedience of a maintenance order Henry Ludwig Martini, insurance agent, was remanded to appear at New Plymouth, by Mr S.*L. Paterson, S.M. in the Magistrate’s CouH, Hamilton, to-day. The information showed that the accussed was £lsl 19s 6d in arrears on his orders to his wife and children.
For accused, Mr N. S. Johnson stated that he got behind in his maintenance while out of work and spent October and November in gaol for disobedience of his order. He had now a position in the Waikato and said he could pay £2 a week to his wife. He was applying for a variation of his order.
Mr I-I. M. Hammond, instructed by the wife’s solicitors in New Plymouth, asked for a remand in New Plymouth.
In supporting the remand Mr M. McCormick, maintenance officer, stated that the wife was in a destitute position. Accused owed money to several people. The remand was granted with bail in one surety of £25.
