ELECTION PREPARATIONS.
GOVERNMENT’S PLATFORM MEETING AT -CAMBRIDGE. (Special to Times.) CAMBRIDGE, Wednesday. Despite the short notice and -the inclement weather, an enthusiastic meeting of 'Government supporters was held in 'Cambridge last night for the purpose -of setting up -an election committee to discuss matters of organisation. Mr. J. S. -Fisher -presided. Apologies for absence included one from Mr. D. S. Reid, M.P.
Mr. F. Lye, M.P., addressed the meeting and gave a brief outline of the Government’s policy. It was resolved that, as portions of the Rotorua and Raglan electorates adjoined Waikato close to 'Cambridge, a joint -committee should -he set up to support and assist the Government candidates in all three electorates. A strong committee, representing all three electorates, was appointed with Mr. J. S. Fisher as chairman. The following resolution was passed: “That this meeting desires to express continued confidence in Messrs F. Lye, D. S. Reid and C. 11. Clinkard. M.’s P. and general satisfaction and confidence in the policy of the Government during the difficult times that have faced the Dominion. It, urges all Reform and United supporters lo work solidly together to secure llie return of the National Party candidates at Ihe forthcoming parliamentary elections.”
