DAIRY BOARD’S HONORARIA.

(To the Editor.) Sir,—ln to-day’s issue of the Waikato Times was a notice that «• ing conducted by the Dairy Boa d Dunedin passed a resolution to th effect that the £3OO honoraria that members of the board voted themselves was not excessive. One wonders if board members explained that this honoraria was only in the nature of a retaining fee and a further payment of a guinea a day was received for every day a member spent on the board’s business, as well as all transport expenses. Comparisons were made of the salaries promised to the members of the Commission of Agriculture by the Government and that of the members of the Dairy Board, which shows how easy it is to be generous with other people’s money. Would it not be more to the point to .compare such salaries and allowances with the payments received by the producor, who must of necessity meet all ;these expenses before having anything for himself? —1 am, etc., PRODUCER.
