FINGERS SEVERED.
YOUTH’S PAINFUL ACCIDENT.

A painful injury to his left hand befel Lorraine McKniglit, aged 20, an employee of Thomas Bortbwick and Son, Ltd., meat exporters. He chopped the ends oif the two middle fingers of his left hand. He was admitted to the Southland Hospital, where an operation was performed.

WEEK-END ACCIDENTS
AUCKLAND, Tuesday.
The victims of two accidents at the week-end died in the Auckland Hospital yesterday. During the morning, Mr Edward Farmer Cooksey, aged 86, who suffered concussion through being struck by a motor-car at One Tree Hill, on Sunday, died as the result of his injuries. The death occurred last evening of the cyclist, Mr James Edward Smith, aged 41, married, of Papatoetoe, who was admitted to the hospital on Friday, suffering from concussion and abrasions received when lie was thrown from his bicycle, near Otahuhu. It is thought that Mr Smith was struck by a motor-cycle, as he was found lying on the roadside, next to his wrecked cycle. Although a widespread inquiry has been made by detectives, no details have been obtained concerning the vehicle believed to have struck Mr Smith,
