MR E. L. MACASSEY.
KEEN INTEREST IN SP-OBT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Tuesday. AR Eustace Linden Alacassey, one of New Zealand’s most prominent athletic administrators died yesterday alter a few weeks’ illness. He was well known all over the Dominion for his work on behalf of amateur athletics. For many years, Mr Alacassey was secretary of Hie Dunedin Amateur Athletic Club, then llio strongest club in New Zealand.' tic was a first-class runner over from 100 yards lo 770 yards, ami ran third in the New Zealand quarter-mile championship on one occasion. He had been president of the Olago Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association for .13 years, and on several occasions was referee al Hie New Zealand rlinmpionships. He was a vice-president of the New Zealand Amateur Allilelic Association and also president of llio Olago Surf Life Saving Association since its Inception. Mr Alacassey is survived by one brother.
