FANCY DRESS BALL. The Tauwhare Hall presented a gay 1 scene on Friday evening, when the Old ! Girls’ Basketball Club held a most j successful plain and fancy dress ball, there being a very good attendance. The hall was prettily decorated with coloured streamers, and music was supplied by Clayton’s orchestra. Mr T. Massey was M.G. A competition was won by Miss I. Hughes, and a Monte Carlo waltz toy Mr D. Do Luca and Miss R. De Luca. As a token of appreciation for her services as pianist during the children’s practises, Miss D. Windsor was ■presented with a gift. Prizes for the fancy 'costumes were as follows: —Adults: Best lady, Miss Margaret Ramsay (Early Victorian); best man, Mr K. Reid (Scarecrow), i Children: Special prize to Valma Pope I as Basketball Mascot; best girl, Joan j Ranstead (Wood Nymph); best boy, Bill Dingle (Swagger); most original girl, Bobby Ranstead (Reckitt’s Blue) ; most original boy, Bill Pope (Granose).
