A QUERY.

(To the Editor.) Sir,—Would you be good enough to advise through your correspondence column the difference between one | foot square and one square foot?—1 am, etc., ARGUMENT. Claudelands, June 7, 1935. [There is no difference In area, but there may be in shape. For “one square foot” the shape may be a square (in which ease it is “one foot square”) or an oblong (2 feet by 6 Inches) or a triangle, circle, etc. “One foot square” means a square with a side of one foot length. Thus "two square feet" is a fixed area, but may have any shape. “Two feet sciuare” is a ilxed shape (square with sides 2 feet long), and has a fixed area, 4 squar efeet.—Ed. W.T.]
