Unusually Largo Eel.—An unusually large eel was rauglit in the Waikato River near the Hamilton Pumping Station late last week. One or the employees at the station, Mr ,T. ,ionkinson used to eat his lunch on the river 'bank and on throwing crusts into the water' he found they were eaten by a large eel. lie prepared a h spear and next day when he threw a crust In he was prepared and he speared the eel. It was -ift. iAin. long. 121 n. round and weighed ,13i lb.
