WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
AT GORDONTON. The Gordonton branch of the Women’s Institute held their monthly meeting in the hall supper room on Friday afternoon. The president, Mrs D. Sainsbury, presided over a very large number of members and friends. After -the reading of Lho creed, Mrs Ilill gave an interesting address on the month’s motto. The president in her opening speech thanked members for their loyal support during her illness, and said it was most gratifying that the branch had secured second place for their court at lho Waikato Winter Show. Two new members were enrolled, and a previous member had re-entered the Institute. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses for, the afternoon. The competition for best knitted article was won by Miss I. Carswell (senior) and Miss .AT. Carswell (junior). The demonstration on how to make a crepe paper purse was in Lite hands of -Miss 1. Mayall. The rollcall, “A useful hint," was well responded to. A competition, “Members’ names in jumbled letters,” was won by Miss I. Christiansen.
