WOMEN’S DIVISION.
TE PUNINGA FUNCTION.
A very enjoyable dance, organised by the Te Puninga branch of the Women’s Division and held in the Te
Puninga Hall 'on Wednesday evening, attracted a very large attendance. Excellent music was supplied by Mrs 0. McEwan and Mr J. A. Marshall. The hall had been artistically decorated with pink and whito streamers, balloons suspended over the dancers, and greenery. A Monte Carlo dance was won by Mrs H. Giddy and partner, a confetti dance by Miss M. Groube and Mr J. J. Patterson, and spot waltzes by Miss I. Conning and Mr P. Walsh and Miss V. Conning and partner. Monologues were given by Misses Elaine and Vinnie Boston. The supper arrangements were in the charge of a ladies’ committee comprising Mesdames F. Henry, It. Keaney, J, Wilson, J. Boston, J. Ennion and L. Walsh. Mr W. Groube was M.C.. Among those present were:—Mesdames D. Donald, J. E. Ilillary, F. J. Shirley, W. Groube, 11. M. Corbett, N. Jackson, L. Schofield, G. Finlay, 11. Giddy, J. During supper Mr 11. M. Corbett expressed the regret of residents at the impending departure of Mrs N. Jackson and her two sons, Messrs S. and B. Jackson. In presenting a travelling rug to Mrs Jackson and attache cases to Messrs S. and B. Jackson, Mr Corbett referred to the service to the community rendered by Mrs Jackson, especially in regard to the Women's Division and the churches of the district. Mrs Jackson suitably replied. Musical honours were accorded the recipients, and the evening closed with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.”
AT TE PUNINGA
The first birthday of the To Puninga branch of the Women’s Division was celebrated on Wednesday in I lie To Puninga Hall. There was an attendance of over 00, including visitors from the Ngarua, Tahtina and Tatuanui branches, and Mrs F. .J. Shirley (president of tlie Piako provincial executive). The hall had been decorated with pink and while streamers, balloons and greenery. Musical items were given by Mesdames C. McEwan, J. Wilson, N. Jackson, W. Groube, E. Williams and W. Northcott, and Misses Mavis Darrall, llcwitt and E. Seed (Morrinsville). Gompelilions were won by Mrs A. K. Elliott and Mrs G. Hart.
