ACTIVITIES AT TE RAPA. Mr S. J. Blackmorc, who has been in Christchurch for three weeks undergoing further special advanced flying tests, returned lo Hamilton in hisDesomltcr Monoplane on Sunday. The record number of hours flown at the To Rapa aerodrome was broken last Saturday and on Monday, the King's Birthday, llie new llgnres set were exceeded- by the minutes. The favourable weather conditions over Hie holiday week-end and the fact that interest in flying is being well maintained were, responsible for the large number of hours flown. Both machines were in the air from early in Hie morning until dusk. Conditions were suitable for several days Ibis week and a successful period of operation was recorded at the aerodrome. The flying ground at Te Rapa was not so congested on Monday and Tuesday as il was on Saturday and Sunday, as on Hie two former days Flight- 'Lieutenant W. 11. Lett conducted his flying lessons on Hie aerodrome at HuUihia. Another new member, Mr 11. Groeiilree, of Morrinsvillc, lias joined the club and had 1 1 is llrsl lesson on Saturday. There was quite a lot of living recorded at Te Ilapa on Friday and Saturday.

With several visitors augmenting Hie local club pilots, the two machines at Te -Rapa were in constant demand on Saturday. Mr Vickers, from Opol.iki, a pilot with an endorsed A license, had several flights, while Messrs Forsyth, Hall and Godfrey, of Taiimarnmii, received lessons from Flight Lieutenant Lett. Most of Hie oIn 1 1» pilots had several flights during the day. During the week Monsieur .louberl, the French Consul in Auckland, has been down several times for further lessons from the instructor at Te Rapa.

Altroiigh Sunday was a record day, Monday was even heller, and further new llgures were established. The club pilots again nude full use of the machines available, while Mr Lott conducled many lessons. The only crosscountry flight was undertaken by Dr. M. M. lloekin, who flew Dr. G. W. Gower to New Plymouth ill ZK —ACC. On Monday morning Dr. Gower stayed al New Plymouth to play for Waikalo in the NVaikalu-Tarannki badminton matches, while Mr. lloekin llew-straight home again. lb* lefl shortly before 8 a.m. and was back before II a.m., having a good I rip both ways. There was a good deal of (lying on Tuesday, but rain set in on Wednesday and spoiled a record week.
