LAUREL AND HARDY.
FILM COMEDIANS RE-UNITED. DISPUTE WITH PRODUCER SETTLED Laurel and Hardy are not to part. Their differences -are settled. Which in other words means that Stan Laurel has ceased squabbling with Producer Hal Roach. For it was a Stan-'Hal bicker that originally led to the report that the Laurel and -Hardy team was -to be divorced. The two comedians remained good friends -all the time, but agreed to have different views about Hal Roach. Who was wrong and who right may never be disclosed. And, who cares in view of the development which unites Stan and Oily again? Hal -Roach posed for a picture with Stan -signing a new -contract with Hardy looking on, grinning appreciatively.
Incidentally there was a widespread opinion that the report that Laurel and Hardy were to part was nothing but a “publicity stunt.” It wasn’t. For proof of this, ponder the fact that such a stunt would only damage box office returns. And Metro-Gold-wyn-Mayer’s publicity department are too shrewd to commit a lapse like that.
