TAIHOA FUNCTIONS.
GIFT EVENING. A very pleasant time was spent in the Taihoa Hall recently, the occasion being a gift evening tendered to Miss N. 'Gunn, whose marriage to Mr C. Ford will take place shortly. Opportunity was taken by the Taihoa Basketball Club, of which Miss Gunn was a member, to present her with a silver oake basket. Mrs T. Hotter played the dance ■music and supper was served by the ladies. A Alonta Carlo waltz was won by Aliss G. Gunn and partner, and a spot waltz by Aliss J. Thornton and Mr R. Agnew. The evening closed with musical honours and the singing of “Auld Lang Syne." COMINQ-OF-AGE. A jolly party was held In the Taihoa ■Hall- recently, when Mr and Airs G. Alason entertained a large number of friends and relatives to eelebrato the coming-of-age of their daughter- Alildred. The hall was prettily decorated with multi-coloured streamers and greenery and the evening took the form of a dance, for which Mrs T. 'Cotter supplied the musio. During supper the cake was cut by Aliss 'Mason, after which the toast of the guest of the evening was honoured. Mrs Mason received her guests wearing a frook of mulberry crepe marocain, the guest of the evening wearing a frock of rose ootelle. The evening closed with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.”
