TO CLINCH THE ARGUMENT.

(To tho Editor.) Sir, —In reply to Mr Earle Vaile’s letter of June 2 I will leave Mr Bray to answer ills portion of the matter. I do not argue with Mr Vaile; I simply point out that Mr Vaile represents a type of mind which cannot accept a new idea. It affects the discussion insofar as it brings before the public a gentleman whose mind, on tills particular point, is in a groove of a gold standard and who cannot see tlie truth about money apart from gold, 'file onus of proof does not rest upon the new, but upon the old system, to prove its worth under under altered conditions. This it lias failed to do. The now idea is an adjustment by a reverting back to an old right, devolved upon the Crown, which the banking system has illched, and is using for its. own benefit, and not for the good of the community.

Coming back to LMr Vaile’s original question of a “Douglas note": 1 would point out that this medium of exchange is not part of the proposals of Major Douglas. No matter what book you read of Major Douglas’ authorship, or any of the books on Social Credit, you will not find any mention of printing presses or notes. So the argument really fails to the ground. The proposals of Major Douglas are simply lhe adjustment of our money system to a reality (not, as it is as present, a money system based on financial promises-10-pay notes Unit cannot lie honoured). Further, they are a Toundation and structure, nol a policy, nor a system, thereby differing from any political party. They are proved scientifically and mathematically correct, and can be practically used to suit any policy that brings happiness j to the country, without revolution or • bloodshed or without upsetting busi-

ness or pleasure.—l am, etc., j MARCUS JAMES. Hamilton, Jun.* 5, 1935. V
