GOLF IN BRITAIN.
THE LEEDS TOURNAMENT. PLAY IN SEMI-FINALS. COTTON AND ALLISS SUCCESSFUL.

The professional golf tournament was continued at Leeds, with the following results: — Third Round.—Gotton defeated R. Cox, one up: Alliss defeated Davies, 3 and 2: Easterbrook defeated Busson, one up.
Semi-flnals. —Gotton defeated Green, 3 and 2; Alliss defeated Easterbrook, one up.
A Desperate Finish
A gale and rain marred the tournament. Cotton in the semi-final mastered the elements better. Easterbrook won in the third round after laying his opponent an amazing stymie, but he stymied himself from victory at the 14th. hole in the semifinal. When two down he missed a six-foot putt, placing himself behind his opponent’s ball, which he was unable to clear. Alliss missed a short putt at the 16th., and lost the 17th., but he desperately holed a ten-footer for the match.

PROFESSIONAL TAKES LEAD
NEW YORK, June 6
In the national open golf championship at Pittsburgh Alvin Krueger, of Beloit, Wisconsin, a professional, \Vho hitherto has not played in important tournaments, took the lead on the first day, oh the difficult course of the Oakmont Club, lie recorded a score of 71, or one under par.
Roland McKenzies’ score was 72. Horton Smith was among the several who returned cards of 73. Ollier scores were: Thomas Armour, 74; Ky Laffoon and Glia Dulra, 73; Craig Wood, 7G; Walter Hagen, 77.
