Mr A. E. Lawson, of Waihl, has been appointed deputy-registrar of marriages, births and deaths.
Messrs T. D. Collins, J. C. Curtayne, Cocker, S. Schishka, R. Wiseman, B. M. Randal (Auckland), and H. T. Morton (Te Kuiti), are at the Hamilton Hotel.
The British Medical Association has elected Sir James Barrett president for 1935-36. —London cable message.
Mr J. N. Greenland, manager in Auckland for the Union Steam Ship Company, will leave Wellington by the Makura on Tuesday -to spend a holiday at Papeete.
Flight-Lieutenant C. M. Duthie, ol Wellington, has been appointed pilotinstructor to the Manawatu Aero Club, iu succession to Squadron-Leader M. C. McGregor.
The appointment of three Australian Trade Commissioners to the East —namely Mr E. E. Longfleld Lloyd to Japan, Mr Vivian G. Bowden to China, and Mr Charles Edward Critchley to the Netherlands and East Indies —is announced.
Mr D. R. Menzies, of Wellington, has been appointed to the local board of the Australian Mutual Provident Society, replacing Sir Harold Beauchamp, who has retired. Mr E. W. A. Kellow, of Wellington, will replace Mr Menzies as a branch auditor.
Mr W. G. Rees-Jones, who leaves Wellington for London by the Remuera, will represent Hie New Zealand National Eisteddfod Society at the annual Welsh National Eisteddfod, Lo be held at Caernarvon in August of this year.
