VALUELESS CHEQUES.
HARD LABOUR IMPOSED.
ACCUSED FROM AUSTRALIA. WELLINGTON, Friday. A sentence of six -months’ hard labour was imposed on Hugh Anthony Parker (28) by Mr Mosley, S.M., today, the sentence to be followed by a term of 'eighteen months’ reformative detention. Accused pleaded guilty lo obtaining goods and money, by means of valueless cheques, at Wellington, Hastings, and on the Limited express. it was stated that lie came from Australia and had collected “quite a list” since he came over.
