BRITISH FARMERS.
VISIT TO NEW ZEALAND.
PARTY COMING 'TO WAIKATO
Advlco was received ’by the Waikato sub-Provlncial Executive of the Farmers’ Union to-day that a parly of not less than 25 British farmers would arrive in New Zealand on (February 2G, 1930, and would make a tour of the Dominion extending until March 31. The tourists would land at Auckland and would arrive at Hamilton at about midday on February 28- It was proposed they should spend two days in Hamilton leaving on Sunday, March 1, for Waitomo Claves. The co-operation of the Farmers’ Union was sought to make the tour a success.
Tiie opinion was expressed by the president of the Waikato oxeeutivo, Mr S. N; Ziman, that the party would have little chance of gaining much information concerning New Zealand farming and conditions in a tour which extended over only a month. Much of their time would be spent in travelling. It was suggested that arrangements should be made to enable the tourists to see places which would bo of general interest to them during their brief stay in the Waikato district, cheese, butter and dried milk factories, the Arapuni power works and the hot springs at Malamata being quoted for inclusion in ilie itinerary. It was decided lo suggest to the Minister of Agriculture (lion G. K. Macmillan) that the Ruakura Farm of instruction should be inspected on the afternoon of tin: party’s arrival in Hamilton, and other places of interest on the following day. A committee consisting of Messrs Ziman, W- l.ee Marlin and W. 11. Allen, was set up to co-operate with dairy companies and others concerned in arranging the entertainment of the visitors.
