A GUIDE TO FORM
TRADESMAN MAY IMPROVE.
CHANCES OF SILVER BRIAR.
CAN STANCHION DO IT AGAIN?
With form on the two prior days of the meeting to serve as a suide to prospects to-morrow the public should experience a successful day to-morrow at Elierslic when the Great ■Northern Steeplechase meeting of the Auckland Racing Club will draw to a conclusion.
Running of Tradesman. Elierslic is not a particularly lucky course for the Te Rapa mudlark Tradesman and again on Wednesday lie did not meet with Hie best of passages. He was battling on at the end, however, to be right up fourth.
A Promising Showing. Cromwell drew attention to his future prospects when lie ran second to Haakon in Hie Hunt Cup at Ellerslic on Wednesday and he should make amends where the company is not over-strong. Wednesday’s exhibition was one of his best to date and at Hie second to last fence it appeared as if lie might open his winning account.
A Likely Improver. Engc must lie numbered among ttic likely improvers for to-morrow at Elierslic. After being fairly well hack in the King George Handicap on Wednesday he was llnishing on at the end and gave the impression that had he been closer up earlier in proceedings lie may have had a bigger say in tlio final decision tliun lie did.
Solcria Fails. Solaria was a pronounced favourite for Hie Ran Turly Handicap on the second day of Hie Auckland meeting, but again lie failed to justify the confidence of bis public. One of the first away ! o was out in front by tile time the top stretch was reached and was still in charge at die turn. In the rbaight, however, ho failed to go on witiT it. lie is entered for the Filzroy Handicap to-morrow.
