INCREASE IN ADVANCEB. GREAT NOTE CIRCULATION. WELLINGTON, Thursday. The monthly statement of assets and liabilities of the six trading banks, showing the position at the close of business on Monday, March 25, was gazetted to-night. The active note circulation, made up of the notes of the trading banks still outstanding and that portion of the Reserve Bank issue in the hands of the public, was £6,247,439 at March 25. This Is the second highest figure in any of the returns, being exceeded only at December 31. The position at March 25, conlpared with those at the dates of the earlier returns, was as follows:
