Social workers emphatically deny ■the statement made in Christchurch that many single girls are being driven to the streets. It was stated that if jobs were not available girls were taken on at the unemployment rooms and paid 7s Od weekly. They were given a hot meal daily with morning and afternoon tea. Assistance was given those in need of clothes, and there was no need for any unemployed girls to want.
