HAMILTON OLUB. THE ANNUAL MEETING. The thirty-eighth annual meeting of tho Hamilton Chess Club was held in the 'liia Ora Tea Rooms last night, there being a good attendance. In moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, the president slated that last season had been a most enjoyable one, and with the advent of several new players this year, the prospects of the club were very hopeful, and an Increase in numbers and playing strength could be expected. The election of officers resulted: — President, Mr S. L. Paterson; vicepresidents, Messrs. A. 11. Tompkins and F. Hirst; committee, Messrs. Bullock, Belton, Mears and Stevenson; secretary, Mr E. L. Jones: handicappers, Messrs Mears and Hirst. It was.decided to run a ladder and a handicap tournament simultaneously on-alternate nights, and to reserve the first Tuesday of each month for special events.

The season will open next Tuesday, Hie programme being a short address by Hie president on “Handicap Openings..’’ to be followed by a match between two teams chosen from the players present.
