BOROUGH COUNCIL ELECTION.

(To the Editor.) Sir, —I see there are many aspirants for municipal honours at the forthcoming election. As a ratepayer for many years, I do object to the overcharging of electricity 'to pay for different works and erecting costly municipal buildings, and I think, as ratepayers, we should make a platform regarding this and return -only ’those men who will reduce the cost of electricity and gas, and let other works stand on their own footing.. . Why is it that tenders are not oalled for the repairing of the traffic bridge without the stopping of traffic? It seems 'only a novice’s job, and I am sure if -tenders were called the bridge would soon be repaired, and thus stop the cost of one, and sometimes two, traffic inspectors to control the traffic. I would suggest to those standing for the council that each should speak and give . ratepayers their views, say for 15 minutes each, at some public hall a few days before the election, and file ratepayers would then -know for whom to vote. —l am, etc.,

JOHNNIE RAW. Hamilton, April 30, 1935.
