REVISION OF JURY LISTS.

APATHETIC JUSTICES. LITTLE' PUBLIC INTEREST. Despite the fact that there are some 50 justices of the peace within a 10mile radius of Hamilton and about 24 usually available in the town only two arrived at the Hamilton Courthouse this morning to attend to the annual revision of the jury lists. About a fortnight ago the jury officer publicly advertised the statutory revision of the lists to take place today, urging all justices in the district to attend and any members of the public who desired their names to be placed on or (deleted from the lists. This is the opportunity given to jurors who desire to be permanently relieved from jury service to place their case before the justices or for citizens whose names have been omitted from the lists to have the matter amended.

During the Supreme Court sessions it is usual for a considerable number of jurors to seek exemption for various reasons, usually on account of trade or business, but'at to-day’s meeting not a single person arrived to make an application. Fortunately the two justices whose sense of public duty dictated their attendance at the Court were -sufficient to form a quorum and the lisls were duly revised.
